Johnny Mnemonic
[4.67]
It "is the" "incredible badness" known as "watching this movie" ("the whole thing") that manages to be the "spark" "future-fied" Mnemoniconians (who frequently feel like their own personal "guy named Jesus") watch "year after year" (and the "pressed shirts and hookers" don't hurt either); lovers of "bad special effects" will be "running from foes" to be "just not sure" if "get it" how this "definition" of "a bad movie" is "so incredibly good" "every single time."
This is the reason we 'Thon. No, really, it seriously is the reason we 'Thon. It is the spark that broke the Keanu's back. This is a bad movie, but it's its incredible badness that makes it so incredibly good. I really do enjoy watching this movie every single time I see it. I particularly enjoy Keanu's speech close to the end about pressed shirts and hookers. Truly inspirational.
He may be "Just Johnny" to his friends, but he is one of the all time greats to me. I could never count the ways to adequately do this "new classic" any kind of justice. The speech. The fish. The 'Net. The suit. The hair. The EVERYWHERE. The all of it. When looking for "maligned" in the dictionary, chances are you'll see a definition mentioning "Just Johnny" Mnemonic - don't believe it. This movie is the best. Life changingly fabulous movie. The reason why we 'Thon.
So, don't get me wrong: this is obviously the REASON behind the 'Thon. It's the movie that got the whole thing started--but I think there's a distinction to be drawn between why we began 'Thonning and why we continue to 'Thon, year after year. I'm just not sure if we 'Thon to watch a future-fied Keanu get data downloaded into his head and then spend the rest of the movie trying to figure out how to get it out, bad special effects and all, running from foes such as the laser-finger dude and a guy named Jesus. You know, Jesus. The Wawhatthefuckever brothers borrowed heavily from this to make the Matrix, but that's hardly a recommendation (I think they also stole some material from My Ass Productions...).
