Speed
[whoooa]
"What I like to call" "utter crap", many regard as "Dennis Hopper" (" "(and his pure creepiness)" "and again, and again"); in this "kind of way" "'motion picture history'" would be full of only our "mailman's favorite", "spooky upper lip touching", "gum-chewing, hotshot" antagonist "character" instead of an "actual actor" who would do a "good job of course."
A likeable action thriller that would be much more so if it weren't for two things: Dennis Hopper, and what I like to call "one of the worst endings in motion picture history," that is, the last half hour of the whole movie. Keanu plays a gum-chewing, hotshot SWAT officer who saves the day, and again, and again.
Ok, I admit, Speed really is not all that great of a movie. Sure it has some good action scenes, and yes, Keanu is in it, and yes, the movie would be utter crap if it had Sandra Bullock and say, Jason Patric, in it. Keanu does a good job of course (really, when does he not do a good job), but Dennis Hopper's character (and his pure creepiness) coupled with the multiple bad endings make this a solid 'whoooa'.
If you liked Speed 2, why? When you get 14 endings in this action extravaganza. You get every mailman's favorite movie star Dennis Hopper thinking all throughout this (in his spooky upper lip touching kind of way) and a perfect, perfectly classic Keanu performance. Bad dialogue, implausible plot lines & that goofy bus jump thing - what more does a girl need? This movie without Hopper! With an actual actor in the "bad guy" role this rates a "whoooooa." I'm not saying he ruins the movie. He almost ruins the movie. Then, Keanu pulls it from the Dennis Hopper jaws of crapitude.
